SPRING 2007 NEWSLETTER

NEW MANAGEMENT COMPANY

The BOD terminated its contract with Koger, effective April 30, 2007. The new management company, Assurance Management Services, inc (AMSi) started April 1, 2007.  The one month overlap was used to facilitate the transition.

Betsy Johns, is President of AMSi and our association manager is Doug Plapp.

ANNUAL MEETING

The Annual Meeting was held on March 28, 2007. The minutes to the meeting are posted on the FHMTA website.

RTA PROGRAM

A couple of residents of FHMTA obtained the needed number of signatures on a petition to confirm community support for the Residential Traffic Administration Program.   The petitions have been provided to Fairfax County confirming community support.  The next step will be to form a task force in order to develop a traffic-calming plan.  If you would like to participate in the task force, please contact the BOD at board@flinthillmanor.org

INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTIC CABLE

Verizon recently sent out flyers notifying Flint Hill residents that they are bringing Fiber optic services (FiOS) to our community.  A  FHMTA resident has been in contact with Verizon and if there is any additional information on the installation of this network, we will pass it on to the residents.

2 W BUS ROUTE

A resident informed the BOD that she heard that Metro was planning to discontinue the 2 W bus route that runs along Flagpole lane.  The BOD president contacted Metro, which indicated they were not aware of any such plan.  However, Metro would inform affected users by posting flyers, etc. on the affected bus routes.  Thus, if residents who ride the 2W are provided any information on changes to the bus route, please contact the BOD with this information.

TRASH COLLECTION REMINDER

It is the responsibility of each resident to see that the community is litter free.  Please try to pick-up any litter you find in your yard and around the community.  Please remember these guidelines about trash removal:

  • Trash and recyclables are to be set outside for collection on the mornings of pick-up days (Tuesdays and Fridays for trash and Fridays for recyclables) or the previous evening after 6:00 PM.  Remember to put trash cans in your back yard after pick-up.
  • To prepare brush for collection, be sure tree trimmings and prunings are less than four feet in length and six inches in diameter.  Tie the bundle of brush with string/twine and keep it separate from household trash.
  • American Disposal does not take household hazardous waste (e.g. paint, batteries, etc.,) construction waste, or appliances.
  • Call American Disposal at (703) 368-0500 to arrange special pick-up of large items (e.g. furniture).

OTHER REMINDERS

Lighting –

Please remember to leave your outside lights on during the night.  The additional lighting will discourage crime and make the community a safer place.

Parking –

Each home in the community is assigned two reserved parking spaces which are identified by the lot number of the home.  For the safety of all residents, DO NOT double park behind parked cars.  Even if you block your own cars, you pose a serious safety hazard to residents driving through the community (especially at night).

Driving in the Community -

The speed limit throughout the community is 7 MPH-please observe it.  There are many children who live in our community.
